Tip # 1-make the Drill more competitive.
Many players thrive on competition and it's a great way to get them excited and play hard to get. Without the competition aspect, players can become bored and lose both the focus and motivation.
Adding that a competitive flavor to a basketball drill can make it much more effective because children will generally have to work harder and more oriented to master of the drill.
It is easy to add competition to a drill. for example:
o when performing a basketball shooting drill, you can keep track of made baskets and award the winner.
You can use special rules as 2 points for cost, 1 point for ball diversion and 2 points for o steals.
o you can assign "permissions" every time you notice a child extra hard work or doing a great job with the drill. you can then placing three or four children with the most "permissions" at the end of the practice.
o Can you teams that do not drop a single pass during the whole drilling.
o Agility drills can be matches between groups of players with the fastest team, maintains that good shape, get to choose from the following drilling
Tip # 2-don't forget your "points of emphasis".
In the middle of the practice, it is easy to forget important points; the things you want to watch closely during your exercises to ensure that your players are running correctly.
However, without your points fresh accent on your mind at any time it is easy to lose focus on all of the things you need to remember.
To remember, create a cheat sheet for everyone one drill. personally I have a "points of emphasis" section on each practice plan.
Points of emphasis on a ball dribbling drill perhaps something like:
o look up while dribbling ...Don't look at the ball!
o Always protect the ball with your free hand.
o Stay low and keep your knees bent so you beyond the imaginary Defender can explode.(Stay low improves your speed.)
o Target to go into full game speed. but at first to go at a pace that is comfortable for you-with time, you will be better.
o make sure that you don't have the ball.
o Imagine an advocate for you at any station.
It is too easy to forget the foundations of every skill, and to forget to emphasize, if you don't write it down.
Tip # 3-encourage good habits.
Not allow your players to drill run unattended.Running away, even if it is to prepare for the next drill, players can develop bad habits and bad shape.
For example, when you run a shooting drill, make sure that each player has their knees bent when they catch the ball. to ensure that they run correctly, their feet to the basket square, and take the time to keep track of their follow through.
When you run a rebounding drill, make sure they keep their elbows out to grab the ball after. make sure that they are the ball with two hands grab, block, and always get good positioning for a rebound.
Your players will undoubtedly slide if you don't look at them closely and correcting their slippage at all times.
You exercises for the development of good basketball habits. However, it is impossible for your players to develop good habits if you are not paying attention to their achievements.
Tip # 4 – variety is the spice of ... practice!
The drills break during training. players lose in general focus after working on the same thing over and over again.
Add some variety to each practice. it will not only keep them on their toes, it will keep the practice more interesting for them and you.
For example, you could have 10 minutes of shooting drills and then change things up a competitive rebounding drill they enjoy, and then switch eases a defensive drill.
Tip # 5 – remember that simpler is sometimes better.
Often times the simple exercises that around forever are the best.
Remember these simple exercises or forget just because they simply are. They are often the most effective.
Simple exercises can your players to focus on the smaller aspects of a skill, which often lead to large improvements in a players lead can total skill and performance.
Running a basketball practice is full of ups and downs and struggle to motivate your players should not be your biggest challenge. by making use of these five tips, your practice more smoothly and you'll see the nature of the improvement in your players that you know them.
