Fun basketball drills for kids

I was thinking of ways to really get my team of elementary kids to really enjoy themselves in practice, and so I came up with fun basketball exercises for children. I stopped to ask me, OK you were a kid, what do you want out of life? # 1 I'd like to have a good time. The way they work is by playing. # 2 I want to learn something. I think this is the key to getting good results, combining the two. Let's be honest we're not going to get results if we just get them in the ground, this goes for all ages, but especially for children. So here's what I did. I came up with a list of things needed to combine fun with regular basic exercises. I use this at the start of the season and then pull them out in the middle if I switch things up a bit.

# 1 Competition

The teams split up and make them compete against each other in the drills. not only scrimmage them, they get work together as a team member skills competitions. the losing party performing two extra conditioning exercises at the end of the practice.

# 2 Two step Pass

Have a team on the left or right, a team on the right. In groups of two players per team, let us advance the ball down the Court by passing the ball to each other. the catch is that they are not more than 2 steps at a time can take. Counting out loud in advance of the ball, two steps, the ball catching, repeat. Winner is the team that their whole line about the gym first.

# 3 the path

Have the team line up in a winding pattern in the gym, each player with a ball. the end of the path, will as soon as possible, works its way through the dribbling the ball low with his head up to look at where he goes away. Once the player at the end of the path will be the new end of the path to do the same. This behavior continues until you cancel your way through the team have worked. This is a great exercise in order to get a feel for what its like to maneuver through the traffic.

# 4 Pin Ball

This is a great exercise to learn of the movement of the ball. Pin 3 wooden clothes pins on the back of every sweater. Say go and in a limited area, the players need to grab as much clothes pins of other players within a minute. the winner is the player who has the most pins.

# 5 Scramble

On command, everyone drops ball and runs until mid right or stands, etc. and returns. While the players are, remove coach one ball. Player without ball is out. With fewer players, begin to reduce area. Think of this as musical chairs, but on the Court.

# 6 players entrance

One of the best ways to get involved is to let children use to develop a game from a drill you want WMIC to perform. No matter how ridiculous it seems to me, and then restart the game. This not only promotes team unity and helps working on fundamentals through the drill, the leadership among the students promotes and fosters creativity, two things are needed to win the most basketball games.

# 7 Rosse-GreenLight

This is a known drill that everyone calls, so let me no exception. It works! This fun basketball drilling enhances your reflexes. a group of children on the baseline but not them closely. maybe 5 or 6 per cycle are sufficient.

Each child has to dribble a ball. When your say "green light" will the children forward dribble. When you say "blue light" will they go to the left. When you say "yellow light" they go right and red to stop. This is developing speed, reflexes and dribbling. The first one on the line wins.

# 8 Clap Pass

This is a blast. first, you get all the players circled around you. Then gives you the ball players in the group. The player should hits before they catch the ball. they are if:

At not catch the ball
At not hits
At hits when you fake a pass to them
